DESCRIPTION:
German tall case "organ or flute clock", 3-piece dial with painted scene of naval battle above round metal dial, time and strike weight driven movement in grain painted case with faux-grain burled door, 8-tune c1850
CONDITION:
has 80 flutes, all original, some needing minor repairs. Time and strike 8-day movement has had the chain replaced and it could use a better fit chain. Has a very large weight to drive the wooden pin-drum organ. The bellows and drive mechanism try to operate, but have not been serviced in many years. The base or plinth [bottom 20 inches] has had restoration. The top painted scene [on original zinc] is very exciting with lots of cannon and smoke. Ht 96"
